The KASS team recently welcomed Elana Szabo, an enthusiastic intern from Australia.
We asked Elana to share some thoughts on her time with us so far and this is what she had to say…
Tell us about your educational background.
I am in my final year of my Bachelor of Law/ Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics and International Relations at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. I have also completed a semester of study at the University of Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2019.
What made you choose to do your internship at KASS?
I chose to do my internship with KASS because I enjoyed learning about trademarks and copyright laws and protections at university. I wanted the opportunity to gain in-depth practical experience at a firm that values success and innovation on a global scale.
How has your experience with KASS been?
I have had a great experience interning with KASS. I have had many opportunities and learned about IP laws. I have enjoyed researching, undertaking tasks, and gaining practical experience. I have had the opportunity to be able to develop my legal writing skills and learn how different IP processes are undertaken which are skills that I value and will take with me as I continue my career.
Did you have any expectations prior to joining us and have we lived up to those expectations?
I had high expectations prior to joining KASS and all my expectations have been met. The team at the firm have been accommodating and answered every question I have had. I have enjoyed listening to guest speakers and absorbing as much information as I can throughout my internship.
What are your passions/interests in life?
My passions in life are to travel and explore new places. I would love to come and visit Malaysia and explore places such as the Batu Caves and Bako National Park as soon as Covid allows.
