Intern Spotlight: Solemnity is the shield of idiots, Change before you have to! –  My internship at KASS International

Stepping into the fast-paced world of business, my internship at KASS has been an enriching journey of both professional and personal growth. As a Quantitative Finance student at The University of Hong Kong, I wanted to challenge myself beyond numbers and algorithms by gaining real-world experience in sales and marketing. KASS provided me with the perfect platform—a place where I could sharpen my communication skills, explore digital marketing in the vibrant Southeast Asian market, and immerse myself in an inclusive corporate culture. From client interactions to business networking events, every experience has been eye-opening and inspiring.

Tell us about your educational background. What are you pursuing as a Degree and why?

I’m a sophomore student currently enrolled in The University of Hong Kong. I’m interested in math and algorithms and chose to major in Quantitative Finance.

What made you choose to do your internship at KASS?

I chose to intern at KASS because it offered me a unique combination of professional exposure and personal growth. First, I hoped to strengthen my soft skills through real sales experience—communicating with clients, understanding their needs, backgrounds and building trust. Second, I was eager to deepen my understanding of digital marketing in a practical setting, especially within the dynamic and diverse Southeast Asian market.

What excited me most was the opportunity to attend internal meetings and interact directly with clients, which gave me a closer look at how real-world businesses operate. These experiences have provided valuable insights that help guide my future career path.

Finally, I truly appreciate the company’s open and inclusive culture, as well as the healthy balance between productivity and well-being in the workplace. It’s the kind of environment where I believe I can grow both professionally and personally.

How has your experience with KASS been? What specific skills or experiences do you hope to gain during this internship?

My experience in KASS so far has been very enjoyable and fulfilling. During the past three months, I have learned about digital marketing strategies with self-studying and hands-on experience. Also, I got the valuable opportunity to research the market regarding advanced marketing tools, potential cooperating opportunities with other platforms and so on. For sales, I was honored to represent the company and join many business networking events, which gave me a unique opportunity to expose myself to the real business world.

What are your passions / interests in life?

I’m quite passionate about engineering. I’m currently one of the developers running a forum with more than 20K users in Hong Kong. Maintaining and developing something for such a large number of users is a very fulfilling experience for me.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of your academic and professional life?

Besides sitting in front of the screen, I also go hiking and traveling a lot. Hong Kong is a place rich in mountains, which makes hiking a very popular activity in Hong Kong. If you have the chance, do try a hiking trail here.

Do you have a favourite musician or band?

Yes, I always listen to music while studying to keep the vibe chill. Lately I’ve been listening to Kvi’s songs a lot. His songs give me a feeling of courage and freedom.

Any Netflix shows or movies you’ve enjoyed recently?

Although I don’t really watch Netflix, I watch travel vlogs on YouTube a lot. Culture and people in a completely different place gives me a fresh taste and inspires me to explore more about the world and always keep an inclusive and open mindset.
