Curiosity led me to explore a field I had never experienced before, and my internship at KASS has turned out to be a truly valuable journey. As a first‑year International Trade student, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and immerse myself in a new professional and cultural environment — and Malaysia has been the perfect setting. Each day brings new challenges that help me grow and see things from fresh perspectives. Beyond the office, discovering its diversity and adapting to a new culture has made this experience deeply enriching.
We invited Inès — intern in sales and marketing to share her journey so far, and here’s what she revealed…
Tell us about your educational background. What are you pursuing as a Degree and why ?
« I initially studied international relations in a French university, but I later decided to switch to a more commercially oriented program that suited me better. I am now in the first year of a technical diploma in international trade at the CNED in France, which focuses on the development and management of international business activities. »
What made you choose to do your internship at KASS ?
« I chose to do my internship at KASS because I was curious about intellectual property, a field I hadn’t explored before. It felt like a great opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and challenge myself in a completely new area. I saw it as a chance to gain unique knowledge while contributing to a company with a strong regional presence and international reach. »
How has your experience with KASS been? What specific skills or experiences do you hope to gain during this internship ?
« My experience with KASS has been very interesting, especially because the field of intellectual property was completely new to me. I’m learning and gaining valuable experience from professional events and sales meetings. I’m developing new habits and becoming more confident with digital tools like Canva and WordPress, which I use regularly now. During this internship, I also hope to improve my spoken English, and to better understand B2B relations in an international environment, something I hadn’t experienced before joining KASS. Finally, I’m excited to explore and immerse myself in Malaysian culture in all its different aspects. »
What are your passions / interests in life ?
« In life, one of my dreams is to travel around the world and to feel truly fulfilled in my career. I also enjoy challenging myself in order to grow and go beyond my limits. »
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of your academic and professional life ?
« I’m someone who enjoys variety and isn’t afraid of trying new things. I love discovering new environments, which is why I’m passionate about travel. I also enjoy listening to podcasts on a wide range of topics, from international current affairs to personal development and audiobooks. My favorite sport is ice skating, which I find both challenging and relaxing. Finally, spending time with my friends and family, especially around a good coffee is a must. »
Do you have a favourite musician or band ?
« I don’t have a specific favorite musician or band, but I really enjoy listening to American pop music. It’s the kind of music that gives me energy and keeps me in a good mood. »
Any Netflix shows or movies you’ve enjoyed recently ?
« I haven’t watched Netflix recently, but I usually enjoy shows with action and suspense. I like series that keep me hooked, like the French series Lupin. I really enjoyed Lupin because it combines action, suspense, and clever storytelling. I like how the main character uses strategy and creativity instead of just force, which keeps every episode unpredictable. The mix of mystery, fast‑paced plot twists, and the setting in Paris, inspired by the French literary character Arsène Lupin, makes it both exciting and visually engaging. »
