Alvin is a seasoned Intellectual Property professional with over two decades of experience spanning patent prosecution, industrial designs, trademark consultancy, and IP protection strategies. Currently serving as Chief Operating Officer of KASS International, he leads the firm’s strategic expansion, operational excellence, and client-focused execution across seven countries in Southeast Asia.

Alvin has been consistently recognized by IAM Patent 1000 as a Highly Recommended practitioner (Gold Band) for patent prosecution over the past several years and is also a member of the distinguished IAM Global Leaders, reflecting both his technical depth and industry standing.

A Mechanical Engineering graduate with honours from Monash University Malaysia, Alvin brings a strong technical foundation to his work. He regularly advises on complex inventions across a wide range of industries, including mechanical engineering, semiconductors, image processing, wireless technologies, manufacturing, electrochemical devices, software, oil and gas, fintech, and artificial intelligence. His practice covers strategic IP protection, freedom-to-operate analyses, portfolio management, and he has also served as an expert witness before the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Prior to his current role as a Patent Manager, Alvin played a key role in managing extensive patent and industrial design portfolios while driving business development initiatives that contributed to the firm’s growth. He is known for bridging technical precision with commercial strategy, helping clients not only secure their IP rights, but also leverage them as business assets.

As COO, Alvin oversees the full spectrum of the firm’s services, from patents and trademarks to designs, copyrights, renewals, translation, and enforcement. His dynamic leadership is focused on delivering practical, commercially driven solutions that enable clients to protect, manage, and maximize the value of their intellectual property. Through this, he continues to strengthen KASS’s position as a leading IP partner in the region, supporting businesses to innovate and grow with confidence.
