1. Who is leading the race to discover the vaccine and treatment for COVID-19?<\/strong><\/p>

At the time of writing, we do not know exactly. There are several companies, as well as universities and research institutions around the world all simultaneously conducting research either individually or in collaboration with each other in obtaining a vaccine, or a therapeutic drug to treat infected COVID-19 patients.<\/p>

In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) released a public statement on 13th April 2020 informing the public of their efforts to bring parties together to collaborate on COVID-19 vaccine development. More than 120 parties \u2013 scientists, physicians, funders and manufacturers \u2013 who are researching and working on the vaccine, \u201care brought together\u201d as part of an international collaboration, coordinated by WHO, to help speed the availability of a vaccine against COVID-19.<\/p>

Data from early-April (see below)<\/em> indicated the countries that were in the race to develop a vaccine for COVID-19, with the US ahead of the pack.<\/p>
